Story

  • Customer is doing condo apartment re-modelling, which requires additional metal framing.

  • Metal studs 1 5/8" are too flexible to be used for door framing. They are replaced with 2x6x8 wood studs.

  • Still flexibility of the wood stud is a subject of concern and customer is looking for some reinforcement.

Solution

  • As the bathroom ceiling can be lower by about 20 cm., this space can be used for additional structural elements

Structural analysis

  • The goal of structural analysis is to determine how additional support and reduction of the free length by 20 cm. can increase the rigidity of the stud.

Conclusion
